Meredith’s final game was today. Boy was it hot. I mean REALLY hot. She had a great time though. Afterwards there was a pizza party and she got her own snow globe trophey (much to Allison’s dismay – Allison asked me if next year perhaps Meredith could play in a different district so their tropheys would be different).

Meredith did great with her first season of organized sports. She says she’ll play again next year! And isn’t this a great picture of her? She really does photograph well, and knows how to play to the camera. (unlike Allison and Lydia). There are many more softball pics over at Flickr, as well as some more examples of how Meredith loves the camera (the feeling is mutual) but Allison and Lydia are starting to get annoyed with my new hobby.

Allison had her last softball game of the season tonight. She did great. She is finally getting the hang of batting against a pitching machine….FINALLY, and its the very last game . Oh well, there is always next year. She had a great season, loves her coaches and her teammates, and can’t wait until next year. After the game, the team went out for ice cream and got their season tropheys. The tropheys were snowglobes with a softball player inside..only the coolest thing EVER (according to Allison).

What did you do for the fourth of July? We went to a party thrown by a member of the local parenting group and had so much fun! The weather looked iffy, but by evening, it was just gorgeous. The earlier storms just served to cool everything off for us. Wasn’t that nice? As the sun set, the family throwing the party put on a fireworks show that was by far the best we’ve ever seen, and we’ve been to some great fireworks shows! The girls had a blast. Here is a picture of Allison and Meredith and a friend watching the show. I think its a neat picture, even though the girls were clapping and moving, so they are a bit blurry. I did realize that this is the first time in 8 years that I haven’t had either a baby to nurse through the show, or a toddler clinging to me in excitement and fear. Bittersweet.

The girls had a “mock” sleepover last night, and two of their bestest friends ever came over and stayed until nearly 11PM. They had pizza, got in their jammies, played, watched a movie, played, ate lots of junkfood, and best of all….gave each other makeovers! Of course baby Lydia, being not so much a baby, hung with the big girls all night long. She ate pizza, got in her jammies, played, watched a movie, played, ate lots of junkfood, and best of all, got a much needed makeover. I think she looks very glamorous and much younger.
