just a trim off the top

Sorry so late in posting the results. We had a festive competition on that other post….and the answer is:

C. ALLISON!

Care to know her reasoning? There was a hunk of hair that kept getting in her face…so she chopped it off. I discovered it as we were leaving dance class, and this is the conversation that occured.

Me – what happened to your hair?
Allison – What?
Me – WHAT happened to your hair?
Allison – What? NOTHING!
Me – um, nothing?
Allison – I don’t know what you mean!
Me (deciding to try a different approach) – did you cut your hair?
Allison – NO!
Me – um, did you cut your hair?
Allison – I SAID NO!
Me – well, someone cut your hair. Did Meredith cut your hair? Did Lydia cut your hair?
Allison – NO!
Me – did your hair just fall off? Break like that? In a single straight line?
Allison- YES!
Me – your hair BROKE off like that?
Allison – yes, my hair broke off.

We had a nice discussion about lying, she fessed up, I informed her of the ramifications of her haircut, and she will be living with those consequences for quite some time I imagine. I also told her that next time she thinks about doing something like this, she may want to run it by me first because I just may be able to offer up another way to deal with the problem – like I may have suggested a hair clip…or perhaps a ponytail..something a little less, um permenant and garish….you know, with age comes a bit of wisdom.

why she won’t wear pants

Today as Lydia and I were having our daily discussion about what to wear and why she could not wear a shirt without pants. It either had to be changed to a dress, or include pants….sounds reasonable, huh? I asked her why, oh why, does she not like pants. Her answer? and I quote…

They are too panty.

Multiple-choice quiz

Ok, for those who know my girls (virtual knowledge is good enough…play with us!), this is for you.

Out of all the girls, which one do you think cut their own hair today? Right in front of her head, almost to the scalp.

Was it:

A. Lydia
B. Meredith
C. Allison
D. Jessica (ok, it wasn’t Jessica, just to make it easier..because I KNOW that as soon as you saw this as an option, YOU thought you knew the answer…didn’t you????)

Leave your answers in the comments section (even you mom..and mom, sis, aunt Sandi, you all have to answer before we get to OK Sat, cause otherwise it would be cheating). I’ll try to post a picture on Monday or so :)

just overheard

Meredith – hey, can I borrow some socks for tap?
Allison – sure (hands her the socks), NOW when you get your allowance you have to give me $1, ok?

To which mom (um me) was overhead exclaiming, “ALLISON, that’s extortion, and extortion is NOT ok in this family!”

Allison – I was just kidding

just a reminder – and perhaps a little guilt

did you vote today?

I did.

You can’t complain if you don’t use your voice. Nothing can change if you don’t, at the bare minimum, use your voice.

if I hadn’t of come home

Today was Eric’s birthday. Lame birthday if you ask me, he went to work (even though its Sun AND his birthday) brought work home, grumbled and complained about said work, didn’t want to go out to dinner..it was lame.

I decided to phone in an order to Applebees for their curbside pickup. Since he didn’t want to go out, I would bring dinner in. I left the kids home with Dad and went to go pick up the food. As I was leaving Applebees parking lot, I was sitting at the light waiting to turn left. The people coming towards me got an arrow, but I didn’t! I was annoyed – since we were the only two people in the intersection, stands to reason that we’d both get an arrow, right? As soon as my arrow turned green too, I slowly started inching my way into the intersection, being careful not to turn too sharply or quickly because I had a seat full of food and drinks. As soon as I do this, a big SUV, going at least 80-100mph, came out of nowhere, ran the red light and buzzed right in front of me. I slammed on my breaks, food went flying (so much for being careful). They were so close, I could feel my car wiggling in their wake. I would guess they were an inch or two from me. If it had been a car and not an SUV, I know their mirror would have hit my hood. And I knew in that split second that if I had executed my turn as I normally would if I didn’t have a seat full of food and drink, that that SUV going THAT fast, would have hit me. Not just hit my car, but hit ME. Hit the driver’s side door, where I was sitting. And I know without a shadow of a doubt, given the size of the SUV and the speed they were traveling, that I would not have survived that crash. I would not have come home tonight. As I continued my way home, I started shaking, and then I started hyperventilating and then the sobs came. I pulled myself together before I got home. As soon as I walked in the door, Allison said I was gone so long, she thought I’d been hit by a car. She’s never said anything like that before.

What if?
