The TADPOLE is here!

Very exciting day around here. The tadpole arrived in today’s mail. Seems like a happy frisky little fellow!

Allison is delighted beyond belief.

Boy that was quick! About a week total…they say expect 2-3 weeks, so I was looking forward to 2-3 weeks of “Is the tadpole here yet?” every single day. Whew!

Pregnancy update – 36w2d

Getting to the wire here! Can safely deliver as early as next Friday! While I would like to go early, not quite that early…don’t think I will be quite done with this index by then – almost but not quite.. But next Saturday night or Sunday work for me! Due date in less than four weeks!

Here is the update. We had the home-visit with the midwives yesterday. Lisa brought out the birthtub. We are going to set it up next weekend so it will be ready to go. The prenatal exam at the home-visit went well. Everything looks fine and dandy. They think that the baby is in a good position, and not too large at this point.

Overall, I am doing well. The chiropractor hit something a month or so ago, and I have been feeling a bit better as a result. Still having some pain, but not as much as I was having. I can walk a bit better, etc. I am still HUGE…bumping into things as I walk, finding many of my maternity clothes no longer fit right. I am hot all the time, and tired, and cranky. I am having a LOT of contractions, some of them are really painful. Nothing to be concerned with, as I always do this in my pregnancies. I am finishing up my last indexing project this week and then I am officially on maternity leave. I’m pretty much ready for the baby and the birth. Still need to purchase a few minor supplies (which I will probably do tomorrow), and need to sort the diapers and organize a few things here and there, but overall, I am ready to go. Have a drawer full of newborn neutral stuff, just waiting for the baby. Have washed all the blankets and burp clothes…I know where the carseat is, and the other baby gear (slings, etc.) are. I am mentally prepared for the birth! The Blessingway is next weekend. I am looking forward to it!

So give me another week and then let’er rip!

Allison is FIVE!

Hi All, just a quick update. Allison turned five a little over a week ago! The day before her birthday, we shared the following conversation:

Me: Today is the very last day you are going to be four years old!
Allison: Thank goodness! I HATED being four!
Me: hated being four?
Allison: YES! Absolutely HATED it.

LOL, you should have heard the way she said this….first I’ve heard of it though..I thought four was a pretty good year

Her birthday was indeed wonderful. All day long she kept telling me that it was the best day of her life. Got her a few little presents…a grow-a-frog, where you send off for a tadpole (EVERY SINGLE DAY…”IS THE TADPOLE HERE YET?” LOL)….some more sea monkeys (We killed hers a while back…Jess tried to change the water, not realizing that they had just had babies…threw out all the microscopic babies, and the few adults that had remained died in the untreated water….lesson learned, lol), a game, an Ello pet set, a small fur-real puppy….a few clothing items…nothing major..then we went out to Gunther Toody’s for dinner, where they made her dance. She was MORTIFIED…looked like she was going to cry the entire time – you should have seen her face! – but still she danced, lol..At least it was at our table, and not in front of the entire restaurant or something. Afterwards she said it was fun, but when she was doing it she was so afraid that it was going to last a VERY long time, lol. She had no trouble dancing with Chuck-E-Cheese at her party though…maybe because there were other kids doing it too. I need to upload the pictures – soon….then we went to the petstore for a bit, and got home very late to do cake and ice cream. We did her party at Chuck-E-Cheese on the Monday following her birthday. She had a blast. Chuck-E-Cheese wouldn’t have been my first choice, but I am VERY pregnant, and this seemed like an easy option. It wasn’t that bad…since it was on a Monday, at a new Chuck-E-Cheese, it wasn’t that busy..the kids all had a great time….And now, after that crazy long weekend…birthday friday, soccer and another kid’s birthday party on Saturday, mother’s day on Sunday and her birthday party on Monday…..things are starting to settle down back to normal.
