Hey all, just a quick update here. I just posted a few pictures over at the other site. Nothing too fancy. I didn’t take as many pictures this month. Its been a busy month. There is a picture of Meredith stuck in a basket (giving me that “MOM, don’t take pictures just GET ME OUT” look), some of the lizard, a sweet one of Allison reading a story to Meredith and a cute one of Meredith weighing bear on our scale….

I still can’t believe that June is almost over! Nothing too exciting happening around here. Just busy as usual.

Oh, there is some news. The Volvo died a week ago. Any last respects? Leave them in the comments. We suspect that the clutch shattered up in the clutch plate (what does this mean? I have no idea…and in fact, since I am relaying the information, it probably means nothing!). We know that in addition to rebuilding the clutch, we need to replace the shocks and the struts and eventually do something to the tie rods, but that can wait (or so I’m told). So we are looking at a minimum of $600 to get the car running, but probably more like $2000 to fix everything. We only paid $700 (or was it $800?) for the car four years ago. We are thinking that we got our money’s worth. Now we are just trying to figure out what our next step will be. In the meantime, we are one car family and it really stinks.

Just a little comic that appeared in today’s Washington Post. What can I say? It just spoke to me!

She packs a mean punch, but boy can she be sweet. Two examples:

1. at night while we are snuggling, she will put her hands on both of my cheeks and say, “Mommy?” When I say, “What?” she responds with “you beautiful”….awww..yes she has heard that before, lol.

And

2. The child hardly ever nurses anymore. But sometimes when she does, she will release her latch, pop up and say “Nurse? Thank you”

Father’s Day….Jess and Allison are making breakfast in bed for Eric. Eric gets up earlier than they thought. Upon hearing him moving around at the bathroom sink, Jess sends Allison upstairs to see if he is coming down and enlist my help in keeping him upstairs. Allison approaches me and whispers, “What are we gonna do? We are making Daddy breakfast in bed and he needs to stay up here, shhh its a secret, is he going to come downstairs? What are we going to do? If he comes downstairs, he’ll find out our secret so we have to get him to go back to bed..what should I do?? Shhh, don’t tell him!!!!” I replied that she should go ask him if he is going downstairs, and if he says yes, then I will try to get him to stay upstairs. She goes to where he is (in the bathroom) and the following dialogue ensues:

Allison- Are you going back to bed Daddy?
Daddy- Why?
Allison – cause we’re making you breakfast!

Hi there, just wanted to let you guys know that I finally posted pictures of the hike that Allison, Meredith and I took with some friends last Tuesday. It was a lovely little trail near Canyon Creek Park. Allison did the entire hike herself, and Meredith got a free ride (as you will see in the pictures). It was a nice woodsy trail with some lovely views. We didn’t see any rattlesnakes, although we did see lots of interesting plants, including spiky and fuzzy plants. We also saw a really cool spider and a funky catapillar (which you can see Allison and her friend Hannah looking at in the pictures). It was a lovely afternoon. Monday we are going hiking at Barr Lake where the bird watching is supposed to be amazing. It is a longer hike, but flatter I think. Look for pictures and an update soon.

OH, and I also posted a picture of our houseguest. She will be staying with us all summer.

Well just spent the last few hours dinking with the photo site..trying to make it look more uniform with the main site and trying to get the comments to work again. Finally I am DONE. Not entirely pleased, but everything works as I would like, so I think that I am done dinking for the time being. You wouldn’t believe how many times my dinking led to total disaster. Ergh. But everything is a learning process, right?

Anyway, to celebrate my quasi-success, I FINALLY posted some pictures of our day at Heritage Square. FINALLY..so head over to the photo album and check those out. You can see a few of them on the left hand side of your screen, but there are more at the other site. Confused yet?

And to make matters worse, I have HIKE pictures to post! Tons of hike pictures to post…..But since it is 1am, I think that those will have to wait for another day.
