I used to be fun

Yeah, I know. The title makes NO sense. Just something running around in my head these days.

Wow, I haven’t updated in a long time. I didn’t realize that I hadn’t posted anything since February! Bad blogger. Bad blogger.

There, properly chastised, I can continue with updates as I see fit.

Hmm, what is going on around here. A whole lot of same ‘ole same ‘ole…basically. Jess turned 15 in late Feb. My mom and Aunt were in town over her birthday and basically we all just went out to dinner. We were joined by a friend of Jess’s and my dad and Gail. A good time was had by all (I think). Jess had one of those baby dolls with her. You know, the kind they use in schools to teach kids about responsibility and why they don’t want to be a teen parent? So much of Jess’s focus during her birthday was on that doll. I don’t think that Jess learned much. I mean she does have two very small sisters…AND, how much can you possibly learn if you keep taking the batteries out everytime the baby doll won’t stop crying???

I took Allison to see her very first movie a few weeks ago. We saw Piglets Big Movie. At first Allison was a bit nervous. It was very loud and the screen was very large, but as soon as the movie got going, she was entranced! Towards the end she leaned over and whispered, “Mommy, how are we going to take this home so Daddy and Jessica can see it??” Hee hee. Up to that point, movies were watched in the comfort of our living room.

We are getting ready for Allison’s fourth birthday! Hard to believe that she is about to turn four. We are going to celebrate with a cook-out here at the house. Should be a lot of fun. Some family, some friends (both of Allison and of her parents)…and hopefully nice spring weather.

And little Meredith….ah yes, little Meredith! She is now 18 months, and she is a HOOT! I mean that! She has such a large vocabulary…She loves books, and I just got a basket full of marbles, and moving the marbles from one basket to another has become her favorite game. Oh, and she FINALLY started sleeping through the night most nights. Whew! So good ‘ole mom is finally starting to get some sleep. SOME, only because I usually am up working well after midnight every night, and then those kiddos of mine get up around 6 or 7AM. And Meredith is starting to assert her independence in a way which is commonly refered to as the “terrible twos”. Yeah, I know that she is only 18 months, but what can I say? She’s gifted.

We had a blizzard here last month. I have some pictures posted on the other site..go check them out if you haven’t already. The kids had a lot of fun. Meredith was a bit nervous about walking on the snow, but she enjoyed it for a little while. Then she had just had enough. Allison and Jessica had a blast playing in it. They built a snowman, did a wee bit of sledding just in our yard, and basically had a good ole time. Eric also enjoyed playing in it..although his play included a big shovel and lots of complaining. I helped out with the snowman and the sledding until Meredith wanted to go in, and I had a great time too.

And finally the latest news. Eric got a promotion at work. Now he is officially management. He USED to be a lowly supervisor, but not any more! I still think that even with his promotion and raise, he is overworked and underpaid….but what I think doesn’t matter. And I know that he brings on a lot of that overworked stuff himself. He is a workaholic. No getting around that!

And I am still just working and mommy-ing. Loving every minute of it (well….almost every minute of it). Oh, I have been squeezing in some gym time now. Been going regularly for ONE month, 3 times a week! I’m pretty proud of myself. I have lost about 8lbs, and 3% body fat in that time. On Monday I get the official weight and measurements taken. I am enjoying the time at the gym..the time just for me, and I feel better and I am starting to look better. I still have a long way to go, though. But if I think about that, I just get discouraged.

Now back to work!

  1. Congrats on the gym & the weight loss! I need to do the same. The truth will be shown soon! Friends from church will be taking me shopping for a semi-formal dress for Tim’s 20th high school reunion! Will I wear a long slinky black gown or a pink flowered moo moo???? I’ll be sure to send you photos! ~Debbi
