Rather than talk about school stuff, thought I would let you know that there are some new pictures over on the other site I got motivated by writing a letter to a family email list that I belong to..it was my turn to post an update and I sorta sent everyone over here (WAVING), and that got me to thinking that perhaps I should post some brand new photos over there to welcome you all here (WAVING AGAIN). Hey, and while you are here, if you want to be on my notification list, there is a box for you to put your email address in over there to the lower right of your screen. See it? Great. I don’t send out notifications every time I write. Just sporadically..or if I felt that I said something important (yeah right). Also, leave me some comments every now and then. I feel a bit ignored and lonely when I see ZERO comments all the time. Someone is reading this, right?

Some Feb photos
Meredith takes a bath in the kitchen sink 2/1/03
Another one of her in the sink.
Jess helping out with the Valentine’s Day Party 2/14/03
Allison dresses up like a princess 2/15/03
Another princess one – Princess Peanut Butter Face!
Meredith sitting on the potty. Don’t be too impressed however. I think that she just thinks its a pretty cool place to sit. She didn’t want to get down and she keeps wanting to get back up there. She tries to take off her pants and she puts the potty seat on the big toilet. BUT, when I finally got her off of the throne, as soon as I put a diaper on her, she tinkled. So I think that we still have a ways to go before I can get rid of the diapers! 2/16/03
Another on the potty.

well shoot – school stuff revisited
Man oh man. Well Jess is going to stay at JCOS until the end of the year. JCOS doesn’t do letter grades, and apparently without letter grades, Horizon would be giving Jessica a 0% in all of her classes which means that she would have no hopes of even passing her classes, much less making good grades…and then her transcript will look like she totally blew off her freshman year, her entire GPA will suffer, her ability to get into college will be affected..SO if Jess finishes out the year at JCOS, she can transfer with credits intact, and since she won’t be entering into a class already in progress, she won’t have to worry about the fact that she will be transferring without grades.
So a few more months of really long bus rides, and all the other stuff that led me to make the decision to have her change schools in the first place. Oh well. Guess we do what we have to do. I have to tell you though, I am very frustrated with the new school! It seems as though her grades should be based on her work from the point that she starts. To start her off as though she just didn’t do any work for the entire semester, just doesn’t seem fair! What if we had moved here from Kansas or something, and finishing out the year at her old school wasn’t an option? It could have a very negative impact on her entire highschool career!
What a headache this has been. I agonized over the decision to have her switch schools in the first place! I dealt with breaking that news to her and dealing with her anger and disappointment all for NOTHING! She said good-bye to all of her friends, and spent many hours sobbing about how she would never see them again, and now she is just going to go back, waltz in like nothing happened!
Oh well, such is life I guess.

Phone saga
You guys knew that we moved about three weeks ago, right? Well when I called to transfer the phone they said that we could not keep our old number. This was a bummer, since I use that number for business, etc., so I asked if they could do remote call forwarding, where we basically keep that number, but it is not attached to a physical residence, and all the calls are forwarded to the new number. Fine, sure they can do that. Great. Fast forward two and a half weeks later, Wed night (or early Thursday morning depending on how you define things), we started getting some weird calls on our old number, which was being forwarded to the new number- for someone named Marty. Between 1AM and 4AM, we got six calls from three different phone numbers. Ergh. Fine…Marty gave out the wrong number or something (and apparently hangs out with vampires who like to make calls at 3AM and won’t accept that they have the wrong number). Thursday morning at around 8AM, I get another call from one of these early morning numbers (as identified on the caller ID) the caller states that I just called her and my number is on her caller ID box. I informed her that not only had I NOT called her, but someone from her number had called a few times early early that morning (if you could call it that) looking for someone named Marty. Well come to find out, this WAS Marty that I was talking to! Both of us completely confused, we hung up. Throughout the day on Thursday, I got a few other weird calls, calls like my number was on someone’s caller ID, what did I want, etc. Very odd. Then last night, a few more late night/early morning alls, and then a few more this morning led me to call QWEST….ran some tests on my lines, all looked well….but wait, they told me that I couldn’t have my old number at my new house? That was wrong…I could, so we went ahead and set that up, and I decided to think about what to do about these calls. QWEST was stumped. She transferred me to the business office to get the phone number thing straightened out, and while I was talking to them, the guy notices that wait, they didn’t do a remote call forwarding on the old number…it was still physically hooked up at the old house and being forwarded here! AHA. Called the landlord and someone named Marty did move in on Wed! The clues are falling into place. That house is wired for two lines, and when we lived there, we had both lines wired with the one phone number, so Marty moved in, had line one converted to her own number, plugged some of the phones into line one and some into line two, and so she was using both her own number and our
number! SOOOO, she was making calls off of our number and it was showing up
in everyone’s caller ID, and that is why we were getting those calls, 24 hours a day! AND, on at least a few occasions, Marty must have called herself, maybe to check her voice mail or something (wondering why no one was calling her back at 3am, I suspect, lol), because our number was showing up on her caller ID as well.. that is why we were getting calls from her! So I was originally told that the change in numbers wouldn’t take place until the 17th, but when I found out that someone was living in that house and using the phone, they, after hours and hours of stuff (some of the computer stuff was also mixed up, imagine that), they made the switch tonight (I think that they felt VERY guilty). I was literally on the phone dealing with this mess all day today. I would say at least 6 hours!
So that is how I spent the majority of my day. What did ya’ll do?

school stuff
Well, I am forcing Jessica to change schools. I am a terrible mother. There were many MANY reasons, and I won’t list them all here. What forced the issue was the fact that on many days, she spent well over 4 hours a day on the bus. One day she was on the bus for nearly 6 hours! That is just too much. And when you put that with the other many issues, it just wasn’t worth it to stay there. So this is where she is going to be going. It looks like a fine school and it will allow her to participate in many things that her charter school doesn’t have, like sports, driver’s ed (my insurance is jumping for joy) and dances. Also since it is close by, she should make many friends that live in the area. Right now, all of her friends live pretty far away. She is understandably upset about leaving the school that she loves and her friends, but I think that she understands the reasonings, and a part of her is looking forward to the adventures that lie ahead. I will keep you all posted as how things go. We are going to go enroll early next week and hopefully she will start the following week.
