Hi all, just got back from the kid’s dr. exam. Both are doing fine. Allison weighs 31lbs and is 3ft 2in tall. Meredith weighs 19.2lbs (so much for facing forwards in the car, huh?) and is 32in tall. According to the charts (for what they are worth), Allison is 50% in height, and 50% in weight. Meredith is 50% in height, but only 12% in weight. Meredith is developing perfectly. They tested her hemoglobin and she is fine there (no anemia). She cried a bit during the heel prick, but was fine afterwards and just wanted to play with her band-aid. Allison is pretty much ok. The dr shares my concerns regarding her speech development, so she is going to be going to a speech pathologist to have some tests done. He doesn’t think that she has any developmental delays or anything like that. She has very intelligent things to say…just has a hard time saying them. So look for updates on that as well. Also Allison is a bit flat-footed on her left foot, but no major concerns there either. We went ahead and had Allison immunized for tetnus. We had been delaying shoots, and will probably not do all the shots, but from what I read, the tetnus shot carries very little risk, and tetnus is a very scary thing to deal with, so I feel very good about choosing to have this immunization. Allison was so brave about getting her shot. She cried right when it happened but was fine afterwards and has been talking about it non-stop ever since then. Did you know that Blue, from Blue’s Clues got a shot once? And she didn’t cry at all! On the way home, Allison was talking about how it hurt, and I told her that she was so brave…her reply was, “Yup, and I’m still pretty!”. I guess that was a concern of hers.
Anything!
